Flight Series — Athlete Color Collaboration
Ultra runner Rob Krar didn’t want to stand out on the trail in loud, bright colors, so I worked with him and a footwear designer to create a palette that blended into the trail while staying connected to The North Face seasonal color palette. As part of the Flight Series collection, the footwear color also tied back to the running apparel.
Running — Color Strategy & Collection Development
These running collections show different approaches to footwear color. The runner and shoe connect footwear back to the seasonal apparel palette. The center collection explores an 80/20 color strategy, using 80% neutrals with 20% bright color to create pops that draw customers to the footwear wall. The red shoe also carries a pattern from the apparel collection into footwear. The Neon Lights feature from WWD Footwear News highlights a bright, high-visibility colorway designed to brighten up women’s workout styles.
Back to Berkeley — Heritage Color & Materials
The Back to Berkeley boot was a nod to The North Face heritage, reinterpreted for a modern lifestyle collection. The design offered a lot of opportunity to play with color, materials, and hardware, creating distinctly different colorways within the same silhouette. As a unisex style, the challenge was to develop a range that felt versatile and worked across the collection.
Slides — Color & Brand Expression
The slides offered a simple canvas for bold color and oversized logo treatments. Available across Men’s, Women’s, and Kids’, the assortment allowed for a cohesive color story across the whole family while offering plenty of individual choice. The pink women’s slides were also featured in Fashion News.
Youth — Color & Pattern Across Categories
Youth footwear was one of my favorite categories to color because there was so much room to play with color and pattern. The girls’ collection shows how a single seasonal palette and pattern story can translate across sneakers and sandals while still feeling cohesive. The youth slip-on offered another opportunity to explore multiple color combinations within the same silhouette.
The North Face x Pendleton Collab
The North Face x Pendleton collaboration was an opportunity to explore color, pattern, and materials across a wide range of products. Working with Pendleton’s distinctive wool patterns, the collection brought together apparel, footwear, accessories, and equipment to create a cohesive story across the brand.
